Christopher Bonny

• Defended Samsung in a five-patent Eastern District of Texas action involving switching communication links, securing early dismissal of two asserted patents and dismissal of a third following claim construction.
• Defended Samsung in a four-patent Eastern District of Texas suit involving user authentication technology, which resolved favorably before claim construction.
• Secured Federal Circuit affirmance of PTAB decisions invalidating patents asserted against Apple across a broad range of technologies in multiple unrelated matters.
• Represented a Chinese memory company in fourteen offensive and defensive inter partes review proceedings involving NAND memory technology.
• Secured denial of institution of all four inter partes review petitions filed against a multinational telecommunications equipment company in proceedings involving optical transport networks.
• Represented a patent owner in the Eastern District of Texas in related multi-patent actions involving wireless telecommunications technology, including multi-user MIMO, securing favorable settlement before trial.
• Represented a Japanese semiconductor company as plaintiff in separate multi-patent disputes involving semiconductor manufacturing technologies, obtaining favorable settlements, including one shortly before trial after successfully defending against a summary-judgment motion.
• Defended a multinational telecommunications equipment company and secured a full voluntary dismissal in a seven-patent action involving ad hoc wireless networks, network security, and encryption technology.
• Defended Samsung against six patents related to methods for communicating media content, securing a complete victory after successfully transferring cases from the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas to the Northern District of California, obtaining a stay pending inter partes review, invalidating every asserted claim at the PTAB, and winning affirmances on appeal to the Federal Circuit.
• Successfully opposed a request for a preliminary injunction in a trade secret and breach-of-contract dispute involving food-safety printers.

Prior to joining Gish PLLC, Chris practiced in the IP Litigation group at Ropes & Gray LLP for 15 years.

Chris also has an extensive pro bono practice, which has included securing asylum for an indigenous Triqui woman from Mexico, fighting against discrimination of elderly Chinese tenants in San Francisco, working with non-profits, and assisting low-income tax filers.
