Bao’s representative matters include:
- Represented Samsung in ITC litigation involving CPU/GPU architectures, high-speed interconnects, power management circuit and software, and semiconductor processing technology. Achieved a complete win.
- Represented Samsung against Ericsson in multiple offensive and defensive ITC investigations and IPRs involving SEP patents covering cellular and Wi-Fi communication standards, as well as non-SEP patents covering RF circuits. Achieved multiple wins and favorable settlements over the years.
- Represented Samsung against Spansion in ITC litigation involving NAND flash memory circuits and semiconductor processing. Achieved a complete win.
- Represented Samsung against Arbor in IPR proceedings challenging Arbor’s patents directed to 3-D stacked chips using Through-Silicon-Vias (TSVs). Successfully stayed the parallel district court case in EDTX and achieved complete win at the PTAB, invalidating all claims of all challenged patents.
- Represented Intel against Tela in ITC litigation and parallel IPR proceedings challenging Tela’s patents directed to chip layout, standard cells and FinFETs. Achieved a complete win.
- Represented Intel against Sonrai in ITC litigation and in parallel IPR proceedings challenging Sonrai’s patents directed to system-on-chip (SOC) power management and on-chip regulator circuits. Achieved a favorable outcome.
- Represented Lenovo and Intel against Ericsson in ITC litigation and parallel IPR proceedings involving patents directed to on-chip analog and RF circuits. Successful fact and expert discovery resulted in Ericsson dropping the circuit patents before trial.
- Represented Sigmatel against Actions Semiconductor in ITC litigation involving MP3 controller circuits and software. Achieved a complete win.
- Represented Xilinx against PACT in a seven-patent case in the Eastern District of Texas involving FPGAs, bus interconnects, and reconfigurable computer technology.
- Represented McAfee and Intel against Finjan in patent litigation in the District of Delaware involving cybersecurity products and software.
- Represented Broadcom against Agere in litigation in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania involving circuit patents. Obtained a favorable outcome after a successful claim construction ruling.
Prior to joining Gish PLLC, Bao was an IP Litigation partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP for twenty years.
Prior to law school, Bao worked as a system software engineer in the aerospace industry and was involved in the design, simulation and flight testing of fly-by-wire flight control systems for manned and unmanned aircraft.
